Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS) — Full Guide
Under HSG76 and EN 15635, every UK warehouse must nominate a Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS). This is the named individual who runs the weekly inspection regime and is the documented point of contact for racking issues on site.
Who can be a PRRS?
Any competent employee — typically a warehouse manager, supervisor or H&S officer — who has received documented training. They do not need to be an inspector themselves; the annual expert inspection still requires a SARI.
What training does a PRRS need?
A SEMA-aligned PRRS course covering: the legal framework, racking components, damage categorisation, weekly inspection procedure and reporting. Rackstor UK Ltd delivers this on-site or remotely, with certificates that satisfy HSE auditors.
Need a SEMA inspection?
Rackstor UK Ltd carries out SEMA approved, SARI accredited racking inspections nationwide — same-day quotations.
