How often do you need racking inspections?
UK law and SEMA / EN 15635 set three distinct inspection frequencies that every warehouse operator must follow:
- Daily / immediate: any operative who sees damage must report it to the PRRS straight away. No formal record required, but action is mandatory.
- Weekly visual check: carried out by the nominated Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS) and recorded in a written log.
- Annual expert inspection: by a competent person — in practice a SEMA Approved Inspector (SARI). This is the inspection HSE will ask to see.
- After any impact: any racking struck by an FLT or MHE must be inspected before being re-loaded — regardless of when the last annual inspection took place.
