Kingsway Business Park is a 420-acre regional distribution park positioned directly alongside Junction 21 of the M62 โ one of the Trans-Pennine corridor's most strategic logistics locations. Dominated by vast automated retail and e-commerce sheds, most notably JD Sports' 850,000 sq ft regional facility, the estate also hosts ASDA, Wincanton and Cleland McIver. Structures feature multi-tier mezzanine floors, high-speed parcel sorters and high-density VNA systems operating up to 18m eave heights.
Rackstor UK Ltd provides SEMA-aligned, SARI-accredited racking inspections tailored to the multi-tier automated environments at Kingsway and across the Rochdale OL16 logistics corridor.
Racking systems integrated with multi-level floor decks at Kingsway must comply with the SEMA Code of Practice for the Design of Structures. Load calculations must account for both static pallet storage and live loads from floor-level pickers and automated conveyors. Edge protection at pallet drop locations must feature fully interlocked, counterbalanced safety gates to eliminate open falls under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
High-density fashion and retail pick zones present specific challenges: fast-moving stock, frequent beam level reconfigurations and high-cycle automated picking all increase the rate of connector wear, frame fatigue and unreported low-level impact damage.
Under PUWER Regulation 4, all storage equipment must remain suitable for its intended purpose. Local authority health officers regularly audit Kingsway facilities to verify that annual SARI reports are backed up by documented weekly checks by a Person Responsible for Racking Safety. Our written reports provide the evidence that this duty is being met โ clearly flagging any red risks found so the affected bays can be offloaded before we leave the site.
We cover Kingsway Business Park and the surrounding Rochdale OL16 logistics corridor. Written report within 48 hours of the visit.
