Racking Risks Typical of Saffron Walden's Industries
Some risks are common to the operations described above, so our Saffron Walden inspectors look closely at them.
- In high-volume operations the lower levels and aisle-end frames take most of the knocks, so we check frame protectors, column guards and beam connectors at every run end.
- Heavy parts and irregular stock put strain on beams, so we check deflection against the Span/200 limit and confirm pallets are sitting correctly on the beam line.
- Frames are checked for out-of-plumb against the BS EN 15635 limit, measured rather than judged by eye.

Your Legal Duty in Saffron Walden
An annual expert inspection is how Saffron Walden sites show they are meeting PUWER 1998 and HSE guidance HSG76. We measure damage against the BS EN 15635 tolerances and classify each finding green, amber or red in line with the SEMA Code of Practice. Any red-risk findings at a Saffron Walden site are flagged before we leave, so the affected bays can be offloaded straight away.
See our SEMA racking inspection checklist for the measured tolerances, or read what the HSE expects.
